The Scarsdale library and Weinberg Nature Center have rescheduled an event for all ages, because of weather, to Tuesday, Jan. 21 from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m.

It begins on the Storywalk Trail where hot cocoa or hot cider are offered as you stroll, read and delight in the colorful story, “The Gingerbread Man” retold by Catherine McCafferty and illustrated by Doug Bowles. More gingerbread tales will be read aloud by Karen Zielinski, children's services manager at the library.

There will be animal presentations by Weinberg naturalist Sam Weinstock and wildlife rehabilitator Maura Mandrano.

The program will also feature a gingerbread contest and ice lantern activity. Participants in the gingerbread house contest are encouraged to bring their completed house with them to enter the contest. The winner receives a 50% discount for a birthday party at Weinberg Nature Center. The house can be made from a kit — edible or nonedible — or from scratch.

A $7 materials fee will be collected at the entrance; children under 2 and seniors enter free.

Registration is required at under Weinberg Nature Center. For more info, call 722-1160.
