Christie's International Real Estate brand is set to represent luxury properties in Westchester with the opening of a regional office at 72 Garth Road in Scarsdale.
At the ribbon cutting Aug. 8, Ilija Pavlovic, president and CEO Special Properties Real Estate Services — Westchester & Hudson Valley, an affiliate of Christie's International Real Estate, said the firm is very excited to come to Scarsdale because it is “the heart of Westchester County.”
Westchester County contains an extensive inventory of highly desirable and luxury properties. Many of these homes are sought after by those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of New York City, while still being in close proximity to the tri-state’s epicenter of business, culture and commerce. In a press release, Christie’s International Real Estate said it would embrace those facets while bringing Christie’s renowned customer service and support programs to clients in this expanded region.
“We believe that people here deserve a unique Christie’s experience,” Pavlovic said. What makes it unique, he said, is that Christie’s is the only real estate company that has a real connection with the art world. It has been in the art business for more than 250 years, deals in a vast array of luxury goods from jewelry and ladies’ handbags, to rare wine and timepieces and owns Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, Brioni, as well as several high-end watch companies.
In addition, Christie’s International Real Estate has sold real estate worth $500 million in the last five years, and has 32,000 agents worldwide in 48 countries, according to Pavlovic.
Although the regional office in Scarsdale will focus on real estate, “our agents are also trained to provide services in art, for example,” Pavlovic said, “so if any of the clients have an art collection that they would like to present to the Christie’s world, we are the perfect vehicle for doing that.”
The company’s international reach is essential for a home seller, because “we know where customers are coming from and we can reach them [and] if you can reach more interested people, that means you can get a higher price for your home,” he said, then added, “And from the buyers’ side again, we believe we can produce the best selection of homes.”
Christie's International Real Estate brand, which is expanding rapidly in Westchester and the Hudson Valley, opened its first company brokerage in New York City in January 2018.
