Eagle Scout installs fitness stations at SHS track

SHS senior Ward Bandsma, a resident of Edgewood, completed his Eagle Scout project, raising nearly $12,000 — $5,000 from a go fund me campaign and the rest from the Scarsdale Foundation and Scarsdale Schools Education Foundation — and installing three fitness stations around the track at Scarsdale High School. Bandsma collaborated with several key stakeholders in Scarsdale’s village government and school administration to get approvals. The troop and other volunteers, including track coach Richard Clark and other track teammates, provided the labor. Scarsdale Schools Athletic Director Ray Pappalardi and Clark mentored Bandsma through the project. Assemblywoman Amy Paulin presented a New York State Assembly Proclamation to Bandsma at the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony Sept. 2.
