Golfing to help those in need

White Plains Hospital and the Mariano Rivera Foundation were the beneficiaries of a star-studded golf tourney at Winged Foot Golf Course on June 24. More than 250 people including sports figures, broadcasters and celebrities came out for the event, which raised more than $800,000. The proceeds will be shared between White Plains Hospital, where the dollars will be used to improve access to health care for the underserved, and the Mariano Rivera Foundation. Some of the celebrity guests found on the links were former Scarsdale resident Bruce Beck, Johnny Damon, Dylan Dreyer, and others from ESPN, NY Mets, NY Yankees and the NFL, who joined Mariano Rivera for a gourmet breakfast, followed by 19 holes at Winged Foot Golf Club. A cocktail reception and dinner ended the day. Pictured from left, Coleman Breland, Dylan Dreyer, Rivera, Edgemont residents Shari and Jonathan Turell, and Keith Prokop.
