Athletic director Ray Pappalardi announced July 30 the closing of the Butler Field track and turf field at Scarsdale High School for a planned resurfacing of the track. Workers continued pouring the new surface on Monday, Aug. 5.
Here is Pappalardi's original message to the community:
"Starting today, Butler Track & Field at Scarsdale High School will be closed for approximately 2 weeks. The track will undergo resurfacing, recoating, and relining. Since any disturbance to the unfinished surface will result in permanent damage, no access will be allowed until the track surface and lines are fully cured.
The tennis courts and paddle tennis courts will be open. Residents may access the courts from the steps, adjacent to the A-School parking lot.
Thank you for your understanding. As soon as the track has fully cured, I will send out an email message reopening the track and field."
