Jeffrey Michael Langsam

Jeffrey Michael Langsam died Sept. 8 at age 53.

He was the son of Harriet Sobol and stepson of Dr. Tom Sobol who served as superintendent of Scarsdale Schools from 1971 to 1987.

Mr. Langsam had worked as an audiovisual specialist in the Scarsdale Public Schools technical services department since 2014. Prior to that, he was districtwide AV technician. His work on behalf of the school district ranged from STEAM Day technology coordinator to advisor for the SHS Dirt Bike Club. Outside of school, he was known for his love of fishing.

A visitation will be held Sept. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home, 824 Scarsdale Ave. A funeral mass will be held the following day at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 8 Carman Road, followed by a graveside service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Valhalla.

A family friend posted these thoughts about Mr. Langsam on,“A kind, generous and good man, [Jeff] always had a smile and a cheerful greeting for everyone, and offered a helping hand to anyone who needed it.”

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that friends make a donation to the charity of their choice in Mr. Langsam’s memory.
